According to Russian sources, the weapons manufacturer Kalashnikov plans to switch to MIM technology to produce its metal gun parts. This is part of the company's modernization program.

Due to the sanctions from European Union and the United States, the company lost the traditional civilian products market. They said to shift to Asia, Africa and Latin America market.

Using the mixture of particles as as raw materials which is combined by fine metal powder and polymer binder, Kalashnikov firearms parts, need no post treatment. In 2014-2015, more than 40 new manufactured parts will be launched, of which 15 have been tested.

"One of our strategic goals is to improve the competitiveness of our products in the global marketplace through a series of systems designed and to increase productivity and efficiency," Kalashnikov CEO Alexey Krivoruchko said. The estimated income in2014 is 9billion rubles, while in 2013 is slightly more than 2 billion rubles.
